Legendary rock-n-roll stage clothing designer, Ray Brown, has been added to an exclusive list of only 20 Australian designers on the Official Australian Culture Web Portal http://www.culture.gov.au/articles/fashion/
This prestigious honor comes at a monumental time in Mr. Brown's career as he prepares for the launch of his first-ever, ready-to-wear, women's line, set for the Fall of '08.

The Australian Culture Portal prides itself in choosing only the very best of Australian talent by extensively reviewing the career of any candidate, before allowing their addition to the site. Mr. Brown is honored to be listed alongside talents such as Prue Acton, who is credited with the creation of the mini skirt. Mr. Brown is a natural addition as his creativity and designs have graced international stages, in the rock-n-roll world of superstars, for over 25 years.

Ray Brown's wide-reaching career in the arts began with his training as a carpenter and leathersmith. He was involved in the beginning stages of Atelier 15 in Melbourne and then went on to open his own high-end, Western wear store, Wyoming. He held a managerial position at the famous Rainbow Theatre in London where he booked acts that were rejected elsewhere, such as the Sex Pistols and The Clash. He continues to expand on his talents with his introduction of Ray Brown Classic, a unique, high-end, leather, women's line. This will be the first time in his career as a custom, celebrity designer that his distinctive vision will be available to the public. When asked about his recent achievement, the always humble Ray Brown states, "This is a great honor. I have lived all over the world, but I will always be an Aussie."

PHOENIX, AZ - December 20, 2007 - Ray Brown Classic, the brand new, ready-to-wear, high-end line of legendary designer Ray Brown, is set to launch in the fall of 2008. As Mr. Brown continues to design and handcraft stage clothing for the world's most influential musicians, the launch of Ray Brown Classic will be the first time, in his over 25 years as a celebrity designer, that his clothing will be available to the public.

Ray Brown is the original rock music fashion designer. As Tony Iommi, guitarist of Black Sabbath, states, "Considering Ray only has one colour [black] to work with when designing my clothes, he is always able to come-up with interesting and adventurous pieces. For over 25 years Ray has been creating my outfits for both on and off stage, yet he is still able to produce new ideas and concepts.

Ray Brown is the genius behind garments created from "washable leather," a fabric manufactured exclusively for his label. "The band Bon Jovi has worked with designer and tailor Ray Brown since 1985. The quality and durability of his clothing has been excellent," says Paul W. Korzilius, manager of Bon Jovi.

Mr. Brown is where cross and skull designs, lace-up leather pants and studded rock design originated. He "%u2026has always been very creative," said Cher.
